This may effect the course and detours maybe used and need to have a radio operator present! ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Looking for volunteers for the following assignments! ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` SAG WAGON Need Operators who have 2 meter mobile units that can quickly be set up in Sag Wagon with more than 5 watts, ( quick power connector and mag mount antenna), sorry a hand held just doesn't work out in the hills . I did some tests out in the Back half of the 50 miler, and my 5 watt ht hit the repeater. American Diabetes Assoc. "Tour de Cure" May 19th, 2002 Ham radio operators to staff Rest Stops and SAG Wagons are needed to help support this important charity event. This event is being run by the San Jose Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and information for it is available here: http://www.diabetes.org/tourdecure/EventDetails.asp?idEvent=103&strSt ate=CA Communications for this event will use Las Cumbres Amateur Radio Club's Black Mountain repeater operating on 442.575. Multiple Sclerosis Society of San Jose will host their annual "Back to the Beach" bicycle tour in Watsonville, CA on June 15th, 2002. This event runs all day, but partial availability positions can be worked in for some positions. The new Antennas, other club business.
On Sunday, August 4th, at 8:00 AM the Tour de Peninsula for 2002 will start. This is an annual event that attracts over 3,000 bicyclist from all over the bay area. Event covers 33 miles of easy roads through San Mateo county. Proceeds for the this year's event will benefit the San Mateo County Parks and Recreation. Ham volunteers with SAG wagons are needed to help keep this event supported when problems on the road occur. Coming Events
Foothill Swap Meet
Is held on the second Saturday of each month running from March to October. The best buys are normally found just before sunrise - runs to around 1pm. Bring a flash light and money. Foothill Community College charges a $2 parking fee. The event is otherwise free. Hot dogs, doughnuts, and beverages are sold at the event.
Livermore Swap Meet
First Sunday of each month at Las Positas College in Livermore, Ca. 7am to noon all year long. Talk-in 147.045 from the West and 145.35 from the east. The event is free, and held indoors if raining. Contact is Noel Anklam, KC6QZK (510) 447-3857 in the evenings.
